I know firsthand that there are some pretty big heating headaches here in Indiana! First off, as you suggest, the power and gas supply could be bad. I have had to had a heating repairman come out, only to find that it was a faulty switch! That's why here, where it gets cold in the winter, you have to get new equipment fairly often because you want to make sure you aren't left out in the cold.
