A couple of days ago, I was contacted by a local Chinese Restaurant where there water leaking through the ceiling.

When I removed a section of the ceiling I found a pinhole leak from a soldered connection.

THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENNED IF WHEN THE PLUMBER WHO DID THE JOB CLEANNED THE FLUX AFTER SOLDERING THE JOINT!!!

If you are unaware of what this means, let me explain,

when you join copper pipes together, after you have cleanned them, you apply a chemical called flux. This chemical cleans all the impurities from the copper, so you get a good soldered joint.

However when you have soldered your joint, any remaining flux needs to be cleanned off, otherwise over times (could be years) this corrosive material will eat into the copper pipe.

If you see pipework going GREEN, it is likely corrosion from flux.

Give us a call if you have any plumbing needs.
